On January 5th, 1985, Wayne Woodley embarked on his career in hydraulic cylinder repair at McCoys Brothers Edmonton. His friend recommended him for a position repairing cylinders for gravel boxes, and with the assistance of some long-term employees, they got started. Wayne quickly realized that truckers talk to each other, and soon he was meeting all kinds of gravel haulers. However, the McCoy brothers began shutting down in-house departments, and Wayne saw an opportunity. He offered to buy the equipment, relocate, and start his own business.
On May 5th, 2001, Wayne and his son Nick started CYLINDER EXCHANGE LTD at the Edmonton location. By December 1st, 2001, they had expanded and created a location in Calgary with Wayne’s oldest son Colin. The business has thrived, and Wayne is grateful for all those who have helped keep them going and kept others on the road. It’s remarkable how many times he has answered the phone saying, “CYLINDER EXCHANGE, WAYNE HERE!”
